On this edition of the Old School Radio Show, Glen Moss talks with Chicago blues musician “Barrelhouse Chuck” (Chuck Goering) about Little Brother Montgomery. Montgomery was born in Kentwood, Louisiana, in 1906 and died in Illinois in 1985. He represents 1920s jazz, but is best known for his blues piano. He lived most of his life in Chicago and was well known to Barrelhouse Chuck who played, learned, and hung out with him. “Vicksburg Blues”, a composition by Little Brother, was Brother’s favorite song according to Chuck. Chuck has continued the memory of Little Brother by playing songs that Little Brother often played. This program is the second in a series of interviews with Barrelhouse Chuck about blues in Chicago.
