Old School Radio Show

Date & Time: Wed @ 6PM

Website: wrcr.radiohistory.net

The Old School Radio Show is a collection of programs produced by alumni of Rockford College Radio especially for the new RCR. The WRCR alumni (who participated in the original campus radio station during the years 1963-1995) contribute these shows in support of the revived student station, and because the project allows them to indulge their creativity and fondness for music and broadcasting. Music may include a mix of favorite oldies, or songs tying in to a theme; drop-ins and other choice material from the original WRCR may be featured.

One-hour, pre-recorded music programs are streamed weekly on Wednesdays at 6 p.m. Central with a repeat on Fridays at 10 a.m. Central and another on Sundays at 12p.m Central.

They may be repeated again in subsequent weeks. Following the initial airing they are uploaded as podcasts–just click the Podcasts button below .  Watch the Podcasts page for new programs and feel free to leave a comment.

There are more new programs being prepared, and the current contributors (Ross Hunter ’71 and John Bace ’75) encourage other WRCR alumni to join them in producing shows of their own. If interested, contact Ross Hunter webmaster@wrcr.radiohistory.net and request instructions.

Other Old School Radio Show programming includes:

• A three-hour in-studio Old School Radio Show special presented by the WRCR alumni on October 1, 2011 as part of Reunion Weekend. The show was hosted by several alumni with the help of the current RCR staff, and featured live interviews with WRCR alumni and music played from vinyl records, culminating in an all-time Top 10 countdown based on alumni votes. The program is currently available in podcast form at http://www.mixcloud.com/rockfordcollegeradio/old-school-radio-show/   For more information and highlights of the special, go tohttp://www.wrcr.radiohistory.net/WRCR%202011%20Reunion.htm

• Several of the automated playlists airing on RCR, including “Oldies,” “Seventies,” and “Sixties,” which are programmed and updated by WRCR alumni.
