Ron Johnson from Rockford, Illinois is one of the early pioneers of the 12-string bass. He has played in about a dozen bands in the upper Midwest since 1979, including; The Frame (1979-1987), The Rodeo Clowns (1992-94), Less Than Zero (2000-2001) and TRaSh 80’s (2001-current). Ron is known for putting on an exciting performance when on stage, and my father actually made his signature red-plaid suit. During this interview we talk about Ron’s music history and career in Rockford and also play music from his various different bands. Check out his band TRaSh 80’s and try to see them play when you have a chance.
